Wendy Aguilar, the project coordinator, was selected for a scholarship to participate in the XVII International Aids Conference (AIDS 2008), which will be held in Mexico City from 3 until 8 august 2008. This will be the first international AIDS conference to be held in Latin America.
AIDS 2008 will offer many opportunities to present new and important scientific research results and to enter into a productive and structured dialogue on the major challenges on how the world should respond to AIDS.
Wendy Aguilar will visit the Netherlands to interchange experiences
The founder of Libre Expresion lives in the Netherlands, Mijke Bos. Wendy and Mijke will be united in july for two weeks, to interchange experiences and prepare the installation of the Institute of Image.
The project ‘Jóvenes Mirando Hacia Adelante’ (Young people building a future) acknowledges the effort of 28 young boys and girls.
On 5 May 2008, the daily newspaper ‘El Heraldo de Honduras’featured an item in the Metro section on the “Jóvenes Mirando Hacia Adelante” research project that was initiated in November 2007 (supported in part by the ‘Colectivo Latinoamericano de Jóvenes’ and financed by W.K. Kellogg and FLACSO). In several sectors of the Villa Nueva neighborhood, a leadership project involving 28 young people between 12 and 24 years old was started up under the name ’28 young people fighting for their neighborhood’, which is managed by Wendy Aguilar, project coordinator of Libre Expresión (main researcher) and Lourdes Soto (co-researcher). The young people involved participate with great enthusiasm, creativity and joy and clearly set their hearts to it during meetings, but especially for the BIG DAY, the carrying out of interviews.
The ‘Jóvenes Mirando Hacia Adelante’ project is an innovative and dynamic research project closely linked to the daily life of young people. Its main objective is that young people find out the problems and needs among young people living in Villa Nueva.
